Abstract: Conduction mode analysis is carried out for the shielded pair transmission structure (SPTS) by mode analysis using analytical electromagnetic methods. The analytical method takes into consideration both the skin effect and the proximity effect. A concise expression for calculation of the impedance parameter is derived directly from the mode analysis. The resultant impedance results are as accurate as those from the commercial field solver over a wide frequency range from 100 MHz to 100 GHz.
