Abstract: The wave-plate model is frequently used to analyze the signal of polarization time domain reflectometry (POTDR). However, since the wave-plate model is initially developed to simulate the polarization property of optical fiber communication links, it does not describe the signal of POTDR very well. In this paper, we adapt the wave-plate model for the simulation of POTDR. According to the comparison with experiment, it shows that the adopted model is more suitable than the original model to analyze the POTDR signal.
